Our story
Dwayne Koop & Trevor Barkman founded a property management, construction and development business in 2013. Prior to this they each owned separate properties that they rented out while maintaining full-time jobs. Their family connection as brothers-in-law and common business interests got them talking. In 2013 they both experienced a career change and this ended up opening the door for them to work together more closely. Since then the business has grown to involve great staff & contractors, and many outstanding customers.
Trevor Barkman
Co-founder
After graduating from the University of Manitoba with an Agribusiness Degree in 2007, Trevor worked in public accounting before working for the Manitoba Government promoting their business support programs. At Canvas Properties, Trevor manages the accounting & finance and is involved in aspects of construction, development and rental management. Trevor and his wife Val enjoy raising their 3 children, living actively on their acreage, being involved in their community, and travelling as time allows.
Dwayne Koop
Co-founder
Married to Pam for 25 years, Dwayne is the father of four and lives on a hobby farm. Dwayne holds a master’s degree from Trinity Western University. He previously served as Outdoor Education Director at Prairie College and worked in healthcare administration at the University of Manitoba. In 2013, he co-founded Canvas Properties with Trevor. Dwayne currently oversees new construction projects, manages a portfolio of our buildings, and works with Trevor to provide strategic planning and leadership for the company.
